1960 Castro takes over Havana and kicks Batista out with the help of the CIA

1961 Castro turns to Russian and nationalizes the phones, banks and many of the US properties in Cuba

Father and sisters put in jail along with any and all rich families and professors

1961 Bay of Pigs...complete failure for the Kennedy brothers

1962 Dad escapes Cuba and Mom and 6 youngest leave on ferry boat...other eventually all get out

1962 Dad gets job at Catholic University in DC and we live in a 2 bedroom apartment...5 bothers in one room and 3 sisters in the other...parents in living room

1963 Cuban Missile Crisis...we almost get into a WWIII

1964 we move to the subburbs McLean, Va with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms

Charlie and Xavier attend St Anselm's Abbey...i am at St Luke (same school and church as Bobby Kennedy)

1968 I start St Anselm in 7th grade with my brother Mel a junior

1974 basketball scholarship to Jacksonville University, Florida

1978 move to Tampa, Florida and start to work at Berkeley Prep on Davis Island

1985 earn my Master in Education

1987 appointed Summer Programs Director over next 20 years increase the number of students coming over the summer from 80 to 3,000 campers

2005 Brandon graduates and goes to MIT (plays basketball at MIT)

2009 Austin graduates and goes to UCF in Orlando (2011 transfer to UF in Gainesville)

2011 Brandon gets married to Sophia in California

2013 first grandchild

2014 Gaston family reunion in Havana, Cuba

2020 retire and move to Cuba
